How to report mis-categorized (by Sophos) URL?

Was researching Bosch heat pumps -- they're a pretty famous company -- and found the URL:

http://bosch-homecomfort.com

is flagged as "Personals & Dating", I'm guessing because a regex on "comfort" or "home" matches, but who knows.

The STOP page that's displayed has a link to click on if you think it's misclassified, and that takes you to the generic support page (https://support.sophos.com/support/s/?language=en_US#t=AllTab&sort=relevancy), rather than a page to submit the URL. I looked for something useful and the only links that are at all applicable are: a) submit a ticket, and b) submit a malicious sample for analysis. So I submitted a ticket, and of course the folks at the other end wanted to remotely access the Firewall to diagnose things -- which is not the answer. Once we got on the same page, they sent me the submit-a-malicious-URL link

 https://support.sophos.com/support/s/filesubmission?language=en

It appears that if the link does not result in a malicious outcome, nothing happens, so I don't think this is the correct link.

Is there a correct link?

  • Hi Wayne,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The "filesubmission" page you mentioned later in your post is the correct page to go to, however, there are a few options available, one of which is "Web Address (URL)". By filling out the fields on this form, your request to reclassify the website will be sent to our team for processing.

Updates to website categories are typically done within 24 hours. Let me know if this helps.

  • Thank you Qoosh. I think that page needs significant clarification. The language is fairly strong and clear that the page is about malicious items (URLs, etc), not about mis-classified items, and it also makes it clear that if you submit something that is not malicious nothing will happen. And you'll have to appeal that if you think it is in fact malicious.

So it should really make clear that it is for submitting suspected-malicious items for inclusion in Sophos malicious categories, as well as submitting mis-classified (but not malicious) items, and in fact you can also submit items to be CLEARED rather than flagged.
