Bricked XGS?

Hi there,

I just received a XGS 136, and I think it's DOA, as I don't get any link lights from any of the ports (1-12).
I was able to connect to the console, and it appears to boot normally.
If I boot into SFLoader, I immediately get the error "Invalid appliance port sequence", and it's then followed by "PortA not found: Failed to initialize network device".

Am I correct in my assumption that this unit is dead / has some hardware failure?

Thanks!

  • Looks odd to me. You could try to reimage the appliance but essentially this device seems to be broken.

  • Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community and hope you are well

After trying the suggested step by Lucar Toni, and if issue would still persist I would be recommending you to create a support ticket for this to be further diagnosed by an engineer (and refer to all the steps you have tried on community) and after which, if it is tested that device is broken they would be assisting you as well on filing RMA details on the same case. Once there is a generated caseID please feel free to share it with us on this thread or via sending us a DM so we can also track progress on our end.

Hope this helps. Many thanks for your time and patience and thank you for choosing Sophos.

    Cheers,

  • Thanks   and

I was able to upgrade/reinstall the firmware using HW-19.0.1, but the network still doesn't come up, and there are errors during boot. Disk error (DRDY ERR - UNC), squashfs errors (I assume related to disk error) and an I/O error when running lspci (also disk related?).

Ran a disk test from SFLoader, got 300 errors. A brief google search leads me to believe that the NVME disk is going bad; has bad connection; or there is an issue with NCQ (but not sure that applies here?).

Unfortunately I think this unit has a faulty hard drive, so I'll open a ticket.
