restore configuration but lost registration license

Hi,

I have a XG home edition running for my house, because I need more nic (try to set up a 2nd gateway for backup). In the process, I lost my original registration license. Here is what I did:

1. I download from XG home edition and install it on a new VM with more NICs.,

2. after fresh startup, I did not register, and restore configuration from my old XG

3. everything come up fine, and upgrade firmware from internet.

4. only after that, I realize my old Lic (or serial number) did not transfer over by restoring.

Is that normal? if it is normal, what should I do to get back my old lic back? if I have to start over again, then can I guess my 2nd home lic with my same email address? how to do that?
