XG Hardware running XG Home - FlexPort/ SFP support

Hi

Sorry for the questions this evening.  I have a XG 230 Rev 2 unit spare atm, tbh I'm not currently using it due to power consumption and noise.  If I get my house cat6 wired as I hope to do, then it will be maybe pressed into service along with Aruba Instant On switches and AP.  £2500 ish of work for structured cabling.

If running XG Home, do the flexports and SFP options work with the unit etc?  I maybe moving back to an ADSL connection and noticed that some models list an SFP for VDSL connections, would this work in the unit?  Would enable me to lose a Draytek Modem etc.

I assume there is still no way to have the hardware software installed, but with a home license on the unit etc?

I'm currently using a Pondesk Atom based unit, but it's slow on the UI etc.  However it is silent and cheap to run..  It was running Untangle, but finally ditched that and stayed with Sophos XG rather than flapping back and forth.

Other spare kit I have is a Dell R220, but planning on using that as a hypervisor once cabling and rack installed.

  • Many thanks.  I will have a look for the VDSL SFP as if it's supported under the Home install, then I can lose a Draytek Modem.

Keep meaning to look at some of the more lower powered units too, I just wish I could apply a Home license against a hardware install, but hey ho.
