Firewall monitoring

hi all,

We struglle to proper monitor our firewalls. We're using Sophos XG/XGS and UTM firewalls. We also have Auvik but they're not a perfect match. We're not able to perfectly monitor IP-Sec connections and there https://omegle.onl/ is not a option to back-up the configuration.

Currently we send all firewall notifications into our PSA, but that's not a scalable solution, and it's not centralized manageble via a central policy.

So what is the best practice to firewall monitoring?

  • It really depends on your partner type, are you an MSP / CSP sophos partner? If so chat with your account manager / MSP team and ask for info on PSA integration EAPs, I believe these are available for 2 of the big MSP PSAs for ticket/incident creation. That way you can funnel these notifications in directly to your PSA. You can control this at the partner level for all customer tenants.

If you are an end client you can still use Sophos central for central management and notification of connectivity issues such as ipsec down/up. But it would be email based alerts.

I think this requires a Central Orchestration Subscription on the firewall though, I'm not sure what limitations there are with notifications with the free offering.

  • The free offering is links and connectivity failing and restoration.
