Qotom q355g4 or Sophos sg115

Hi,

I have the opportunity to get an old SG115 for half the price of a qotom box. Still both are in my price range.

How do they compare perf wise to run Sophos XG Home with all features enabled ?

I run a small homelab at home, with two wifi AP (IOT vs Trusted clients), and quite a large number of sessions running at the same time (mostly VMs).

Edit : Forgot to mention, I currently run it as a VM on Proxmox on an Intel NUC but considering the extra hardware as anytime I need to reboot proxmox the whole network goes down

Thanks for the help.

  • The main aim of the XG firewall cpu is hertz, the faster the better, not precessing power. The home use recommendations are fast cpu with 4 real cores, 6gb of ram, use intel nics though not 219 or 225 series and about 120gb of ssd if you have a high speed internet connection.

the amd chip is very old 2013 and I don’t think it is suitable, very slow and not one I would use.
