VLAN Client Obtains DHCP Lease But No Other Traffic Is Visible

Clients on VLAN are able to obtain a DHCP lease from the Sophos XG210 but absolutely no other traffic is passing or showing any activity in the log.

Client is unable to ping anything.

Firewall rule is:

Accept
Source Zone: VLAN
Destination Zone: LAN, WAN

There is also a linked SNAT - MASQ rule that was automatically created.

This was all working previously but VLAN was disabled for a while. Now that I've turned it back on something isn't working.

System log shows the successful IP lease but not a single other thing on the VLAN.

I'm confused as to how DHCP is working but literally nothing else.

  • Found the problem. The firewall was properly configured but the WiFi access point had its own guest policy enabled which required the client to be authorized first. The AP was passing DHCP but blocking all other traffic until the client was authorized.
