No, it can also be a UTM, but it should work with other vendors, as it’s only OpenVPN standards, 

There is this Public converter of the apc file you download on the XG, this  isn’t supported by Sophos though.

So can I have XG Appliance on one end and PC with OpenVPN installation on other end, can site to site work?

Manish Chawda: If you want to establish the connection between PC and XG then the SSL Remote access VPN will be used but if you would like to have connectivity between two gateway devices (XG to XG or another vendor where you would like to try) then SSL site to site will be used.
