Sophos home xg running on HP t730 with pimped ram and m.2

had this box in testing for months about 6 connected to my paid for sophos cloud, and my 2 other machines running full fat sophos intercept-x.

first few builds on versions of 17.5 and early 18.* it would be stable. now on SFVH (SFOS 18.5.1 MR-1-Build326) its very unsable and i cant get any thing out from the logs to see why its hard locked and failed.

does anyone have any advice to see what i can drag out of linux console to see if there are logs to see why. i have looked at purchased sophos xg105 or the newer xgs87 but thats dropping £500 to 1000 on tin and subscription which is a little ouch at this time. home edition on sophos hardware is my final goal replacing the hp t730.

mrs is already moaning that is not good enough to keep turning it off and on. might have to go back to the ubnt in the short term.

the black lines are where the unit hard locks, lucky my ISP texts to say my router is off line and i can reset it.

You should be able to see the disk occupancy from the XG console and I suspect your 32gb disk is too small and needs to be at least 64gb. Yes, I am aware that some Sophos hardware comes with 32gb disks…

what is the second NIC type? How big is the disk, maybe it is filling up and how much memory?

HP T730 THIN CLIENTS + PSU ( QUAD CORE / QUAD DISPLAY / 32GB FLASH / 8GB RAM / W7P )

its got a extra twin nic card as well

it was standard 32gb, but this is a replacement m.2 which i believe is 120gb, it just crashed again but wife needed to upload. will report back sortnly on the disk total size.

think its a little poor the UI does not have that function. smoothwall does.

its also taken this moment to stop taking the password on both the 172. and the console screen. going to reset via the main cloud.sophos it states i cant reset the admin password to the same password. but cutting and pasting it fails on the web 172. login

think its not a happy bunny. might have to reload it and scratch and rebuild.

going to wipe and start again mate and see whats going down after

its still not taking a firmware loader admin password reset. so cant be a normal install at this point

Thought i would offer part of a closure to the case.

thrown a older firmware on the hardware, also stripped it down, fresh thermal paste, and now its just completing its reinstall and setup. started a fresh. for now holding stable. thanks for the help / conversion on this some times a sound board who knows or points in the right direction is enough :-)
