XG210 rev2 won't upgrade

I have a XG210 Rev2 appliance running SFOS v17.5.16 MR-16-Build830

This box doesn't want to upgrade.

In the web admin under Backup&Firmware SFOS 18.5.1 MR1-Build326 is shown as latest available firmware.
Downloading, applying doesn't give any errors. But after the reboot, no upgrade occured. It boots into its current version 17.5.16

In mySophos I have downloaded the 2 firmwares available for this device:
.SFOS 18.5.2 MR2-Build380
.SFOS 18.0.6 MR6-Build655

Same thing here. After an upload into the box (no errors) and a reboot, nothing happens. It boots into version 17.5.16

Any suggestions?

Thx

  • This same thing happened to me when attempting to upgrade from 17.5 to 18. We also have the XG210, not sure if it's rev2, though.

I filed a support ticket, and they advised me to do a fresh install of v18 which is what I ended up having to do. I downloaded a backup of my current config, downloaded the v18 iso and set up a bootable USB stick (Sophos recommends using Belena Etcher for this -- search for the support article on how to create a bootable iso).

Be very certain you have the passwords you need to unencrypt your config backup. You'll need them to restore your v17.5 config after doing a fresh install of v18.5.
