Email Gateway - Allow / Block list format

Question

Hi Sophos, 
 
 Quick question hopefully, just after some clarity. 
 
 I've been adding in items to our Block list as *@domain.com whilst a colleague has done the same with *otherdomain.com. Are both correct? 
 
 According to this article, my way is correct: https://docs.sophos.com/central/Customer/help/en-us/central/Customer/concepts/eg_EmailSettingsAllowBlock.html 
 
 Whilst in the actual interface, I've just noticed that if you hover over the (?) icon it says *domain.com is correct. 
 
 Neither articles listed the opposing format as either incorrect or correct. 
 
 Can someone clarify which is correct - or if they both are?

 Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community. 
 Both ways are correct, however, the *.xxx is usually used when you want to block a TLD. 
 Wildcards are supported for email addresses and domains. For example, *@domain.com would include any addresses that are part of domain.com. 
 You can also use wildcards to block whole top-level domains (TLDs). For example, *.top would block every email from the .top TLD.
