How do you issue show commands for Multicast routing

Hello Everyone,

I have been going over the documentation here on the site to see if I could find commands related to verifying the operation of Multicast routing. I found pages on how to configure it but nothing on commands one would use to troubleshoot it. Coming from a Cisco background it is a bit of a learning curve but any assistance in pointing out where I can find the right commands would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately that is where I hit a dead end. On Cisco I can issue commands such as show mroute or show IP Pim neighbor to get information. All I am finding is the configuration commands to bring it up but not verify function.

What do you try to resolve? Multicast routing is actually rather straight forward. What is the usecase you want to solve?

I am just trying to verify who the RP is currently and make sure that the PIM-SM is working correctly. We run a multicast system and are installing it for customers and want to make sure their equipment will play nice with our gear.

I am looking and can see that the Sophos UTM does support IGMP however I am not finding that setting in the XG model. Basically for the user network they have a Ubiquiti switch network for the LAN and a Sophos XG310 for their WAN connection. Our gear uses multicast to go from their one site to a data center at another.

Yes XG (not the same OS, etc. as UTM in case there is confusion) does support IGMP. Sophos Firewall: Supported multicast protocols

As far as being able to view the precise parameters you are asking for, you are correct, it's not in the common documentation. I suggest opening a support case with Sophos @ https://support.sophos.com

The point is, UTM could actually install a RPM for a IGMP Proxy, which is different. SFOS (OS of XG) supports to forward IGMP, thats true. But we do not offer a proxy. There is a difference in having a proxy and a forwarding service.

You find a german post, where somebody installed a RPM on a home appliance, which is of course highly unsupported. https://community.sophos.com/utm-firewall/f/german-forum/58737/t-home-entertain-iptv/419745 (they simply install a module on the linux, this is not possible on SFOS).

If you need a IGMP Proxy for any reason (likely TV forwarding?), then this is not possible. If you simply need to forward certain Traffic from A to B, this should be possible.

Debugging Multicast can be done with the tools on the CLI: https://docs.sophos.com/nsg/sophos-firewall/18.5/Help/en-us/webhelp/onlinehelp/nsg/sfos/concepts/LogFileDetails.html You have some logs, showing what is going on in the modules itself:

mouting.log and zebra.log --> Start there to find the issue or create a support case.
