XG v18.05: MTA mode and alias IP addresses

I will start by saying I am coming over from a UTM that I have loved going back to the Astaro days. Best part about the UTM is the help pages always seem to match what the options are in the actual product they are connected too. I haven't found that to be try on the XG side at all.

My specific problem now is I can't get the MTA mode and alias IP addresses to work. Tried following the instructions in https://community.sophos.com/sophos-xg-firewall/f/recommended-reads/122602/sophos-xg-how-to-setup-mta-mode-when-you-have-multiple-wan-ports-or-alias-ip-addresses but of course the instructions don't match what I see. While I can create an alias interface linked to the wan port with a new ip address, that does not appear in the NAT rules for selection in the outgoing interface. All I see are the physical interfaces. I have no way to select the alias. What am I missing?

Below is the alias set up on Port2

Below is what I see when I am adding the NAT rule as directed. There is no Port2:0 presented as an option.

I sure could use some help getting a handle on this new firewall interface!

  • I am using the SD-WAN option to solve this.

But at first I missed the part

    Enter the following command:
    "set routing sd-wan-policy-route system-generate-traffic enable"

    did you enter this command?
