SophosXG freezes for couple of minutes randomly.

Hi I have a Sophos XG on a Virtual Machine, it worked fine for quite some time but recently it started to freeze for couple of minutes 5 or 6 times a day. There is nothing obvious in reports, CPU and Ram seems to be more or less the same and there is free disk space on it.

Would someone be able to point me at the right log file to determine the root cause of this ?

  • Hi Jay,

There could be multiple possibility for this like the CPU resources are not getting enough or could be the connection issue .

Kindly provide with below details So, I can help you in a right way :

    • Which virtualization platform do you use ?
    • Firmware version ?
    • CPU and memory given
    • At the time of freeze any logs on Console of VM ?
    • Further below would be the things needed for analysis :
      • Log files under /log partition .
      • Files needed : syslog.log tomcat.log
      • Under Diagnostics > System Graph (Get the system graph at the time issue occurs
      • Console logs from the Hypervisor (In every VM platform you can save all activity of console in the file)
    • Above would be needed as an initial investigation .
    • If it is not clear from above logs then CSC service in reboot persistence, ATOP script and console logs would be needed to get this concluded further .
