ProtectLi XG USB Install

Hello All,

Home install.  Have the appliance above.

1st ISO USB Install attempt worked.  However I could get the device to connect to my network (user problem) so I decided the start again and reinstall.

All subsequent attempts appear to work - including Greensleaves playing - but the reboot hangs with the message "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media..."

So I opened it up - all looks good inside

I installed Ubunto - it worked without a hitch - and great network download speed etc

I then re downloaded the Sofos ISO and using Rufus and reboot again -

Same result - install appears to work but get the "...Insert boot media..." results.

Ive sent a note to Protectli also and I was wondering if:

1.  There's an install parameter I might be able to use - the ISO installs on its own with only a Y/N Qu at the start

2. There's a different ISO to use for the Protectli

3. There's some kind of copy prevention feature to stop doing more that one installation (Long shot)

Sorry for a basic install question - I have spent an hour looking in the forums and I cant locate this specific issue.

  • How about the BIOS boot options?
Did you select right (traditional AMI) BIOS mode?

  • Thank you In Rufus I went into advanced settings and checked the box "Add fixes for old BIOSes (extra partition, align, etc) and then re-wrote the ISO and it's now booting up to the main menu.  So you definitely fixed the boot up problem I was having.  I will report back on this thread if I get it all working for completeness in case someone else encounters this.

  • Thnx for reporting back.
    Good luck!

  • So I have completed setup and have a functioning Firewall - interesting - the dedicated appliance is so much quicker than mu wifi router which I had implemented with my ISP router in Modem mode.  Next I will look at how to install the certificate.  Thanks again
