How to configure XG115 with SFP to ADSL+ connection

Hi,

I want to change my current ADSL+ Modem/Router with XG115. I already have SFP interface where i can plug the RJ11 ADSL phone connection to the XG115.

The XG115 got PPOE configuration point. I have already provided my user name and password at there but I am still not getting the WAN link up.

My current Modem/Router is Huawei HG659

An early answer and guidance is highly appreciated.

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Would it be possible for you to share the configuration screenshot and networkd.log file?

    Thanks,

  • Hi

I tried to login to CLI by going to admin > Console to get the network log file. Unfortunately CLI session does not accept the admin password

How to I attached 2 jpg files show the settings of the current VDSL Modem/Router and the WAN port settings of the XG115?

An early response is highly appreciated

    Thanks

  • The SPA will provide the modem function and provide a straight ethernet port to the XG. You will not need to use PPPoE on the XG interface. Also you would need to use the LAN interface on the SPA not the phone interface.

  • Hi Ian

    Thanks for your thoughts.

If I dont select PPPoE on XG interface, I dont get a placeholder to insert my username and password for the internet connection. Just be mindful that I am talking about ADSL2+ type of connection which uses RJ11 (standard telephone cable) from the wall socket to the ADSL Modem.

When I purchased my XG115, I was told that SFP module (SOPHOS VDSL2 SFO part no XSGZTCHSF) works as a Modem where I can plug the RJ11 cable coming from the wall socket and configure the incoming ADSL2+ connection into the XG115 to work as the modem in addition to the firewall function.

When you say LAN interface i believe you are talking about RJ45 standard network connector. That is ok when the internet connection is no an ADSL2+. In my case I have an ADSL2+ connection where the internet service is pushed thru standard copper cabling at the last mile.

  • Are you using the spa as a modem or voip device? Regardless the XG wan interface plugs into the Ethernet interface in the spa. You would put the spa in bridge mode and then use the PPPoE settings. What model spa are you using?

  • Hi Ian

Sorry, I am using SFP not SPA. My apologies.

The intention of using the SFP as the modem, where I can plug the ADSL2+ connection coming from my Internet Provider.

Details of the SFP module is as follows:

    - SOPHOS VDSL2 SFP

    - Product Code - XSGZTCHSF

    Hope this helps
