    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community.

Please ensure that you're using https://172.16.16.16:4444 to access web admin.

Are you able to take SSH with 172.16.16.16?

You can use a micro USB cable to get into the console of the firewall.

  • firstly this router is already configured with other IP address which I don't have and is it possible to access this device from its default IP  address which is 172.16.16.16 :4444 also how would I use micro USB cable to get into the console please provide me detail steps.

Try connecting a machine directly to the Port1/PortA(LAN) interface of Sophos firewall and check whether an IP address gets assigned to it or not.

If machine gets an IP address then check the IP details and try to access webadmin on https://<gateway_IP>:4444

If this doesn't then console access would be required. There will be a micro USB and a console port on the firewall.

You can also connect a monitor and USB keyboard with the firewall to get console access.

Click here to know more information on "How to reset admin password".

  • Yes I have tried connecting the machine directly using LAN1 and it does not obtain any IP addresses, about console can we use the CISCO console cable and access this device using PUTTY? as I don't have an extra monitor for micro USB Console.

You should be able to use any working serial/console cable. Ensure to keep the BAUD (speed) to 38400.

Once you successfully get the console access and make your way through to the CLI options screen, select option 1 > Network Configuration and browse through it, this will give you the IP assigned on the Port1.
