XG210 V18 Guarantee Bandwidth acts like Limited

I have multiple Traffic Shaping rules with both limits and guaranteed on Shared and Individual.

When I set a limit to 5000 it gets to that and stops no problem.

When I set a guarantee bandwidth of 1000 and do a speed test it stops at 1000 and streaming content buffers on the guarantee rule but when limit is in place which would should be the opposite.

Previously on a UTM I was managing if I set up a guarantee it would take as much as it needed but didn't have a upper limit.

Is this different in XG V18?

Hi, Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community.

When you set the QoS with Guarantee, It literally guarantees the limit in between the values you set from the available bandwidth Pool.

In the guarantee, You define a value between How much 'guaranteed bandwidth' you want and how much maximum the user should get.

As per this configuration, You'll get about 1000 KBps guaranteed (~ 7.5 Mbps) and a maximum of 3000 KBps (~22 Mbps), If available in the bandwidth Pool.

So If you set the values in both to and from to 1000 KBps (~7.5 Mbps) , It'll reserve the bandwidth from the pool and will ensure that the user should at least get 1000 KBps and It won't give more than 1000 KBps as the limit was set to 1000. Example snapshot below,

Yes this is what I was looking for. Its not clear that this is how it works but making the changes to the upper limit to our maximum it has resolved my issue.
