Hello,
We have a Sophos XG that we have been locked out of, but we still have an active license that we don't want to lose.
I found this guide for how to reset the admin password, but I have a couple of questions I would appreciate if someone could clarify for me.
- A screenshot in the guide above has the text "Appliance registration will not be affected." Can I take this to mean that license registrations will not be affected?
- The guide describes this as an "admin" password reset process, but does this admin user have full privileges on the device? Is there a "super admin" that we cannot reset through this process?
The reason I'm asking about the "super admin" is because of this page, which turned up in search engines when I searched for "administrator roles Sophos XG."
On the other hand, this page in the online documentation suggests that there is no "super admin" role, but the "admin" role has "super admin" privileges. Is this admin user the account that will have its password reset in the guide above?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear up my confusion!
