I had submitted the issue to Sophos support, but since it was a free XG Home Edition version, they asked me to write to the community site.

Hoping, as you say, that they will update this issue soon ...

Yes, indeed, I thought that we should do this manipulation at each update, hope that there will not be too many in the meantime !! ??

Otherwise when I got tired of making these changes I would just leave it !! lol

But it was very interesting to temporarily fix this problem.

Well, that's not a good way to fix it.

A Kernel update by Sophos would be necessary. But, well... we're both home users.

Also a reminder, if you ever update the firmware of your firewall, you will have to add this option again on your boot loader.

Don't use "set acpi=off"

Try this: linux /18_0_4_506 quiet console=tty0 console=ttyS0,38400n8 acpi=off

Inserted the command line: set acpi=off

I just tested and the problem is still the same.

What modifications did you made on GRUB ?

If you add "acpi=off" at the boot loader options, does the problem persists ?

I have two other Firewalls in latest version 17. I am not currently updating to version 18, because I had too much trouble getting it to work again with the new version.

My computer scientist friend who has the same installation as me also refuses for the moment to go to version 18, while waiting for a future update which would solve these encountered problems.

P.S .:

Just maybe an additional indication, after updating from version 17 to 18, the firewall was stuck and no longer booted.

The image had to be reinstalled and I still had other problems booting the firmware.

It no longer launched automatically on the image but on the SF loader software.

We had to go and modify the settings in GNU GRUB with the PuTTY software.

Hello Prism, Thanks for putting my topic in the right location, sorry I'm new to this forum and there were so many options that I clicked on the first link that allowed me to post my problem. :-)

So to answer your question, yes, the firewall is fully functional and I can easily access the administration page. Traffic also works.

So if I understand correctly. Is there nothing to do. If not leave so?

This looks like a Kernel issue, but ACPI errors should be harmless.

After upgrading to v18, does It get stuck at this error message, or the firewall is fully functional ? (You can access the Admin Page, or pass traffic through It.)
