Just got my Qotom PC with Intel AC3160 onboard wifi. I just want to get it clear: we have no chance to get AP working (both XG and UTM)?
Sophos is a very friendly product, unlike all other BSD-based solutions, but this limitations is a deal

RE: Another Qotom mini PC question

TBH i dont have enough experience trying to get a WLAN adapter running in SFOS to be as helpful as i wanted... Maybe someone else who has managed to get there own added WLAN adapter working as WLAN AP in SFOS can chip in from here??

I've installed latest version of XG, and i see WLAN interface in interface list. But status is unplugged. Also i deleted preconfigured Wireless Networks and corresponded DHCP settings, and created my own. After this, wireless interface is gone and in Wireless > Access Points i see nothing.

Dedicated AP is not acceptable in my case.

RE: Another Qotom mini PC question

From my understanding it depends on whether that WiFi chip is detected by the XG SFOS? As long as it can load drivers etc you should be able to add it as a local Interface but ive never tried using a local WAN adapter for a hotspt again if SFOS detects the chip then you will be able to use it just like the H/W XG units use there own onboard WiFi adapters for the XG hotspot etc.

Personally i prefer the Sophos AP & APX line of Hotspots myself because of the driver issues with WLAN adapters locally, i had to give up trying to get a WLAN PCIE card to run on my S/W XG setup as SFOS just didnt support it.
