In UTM it is possible to set a friendly name for each connected wireless client. I cannot find this option in XG, is it possible at all?

his morning I noticed on my devices is showing MAC address in lieu of the real name. The device is in the clienteles user group and in the DHCP server with a static address. But when I look at the DHCP assignments the device is not listed which seems to me that the report uses the active assignments in the DHCP table so if you are using static addressing that does not register in the DHCP table you will only see the MAC address.

Something to think about.

I changed it now so the windows DNS servers has the XG as forwarder.
does your XG point at those DNS devices or do they point at the XG. There needs to be a relationship so the XG can load the information.

I tried what you said, i added all wireless clients to my DHCP server with a static mapping to an IP. Then added a forward and reverse DNS entry in the DNS server for these clients. (I did this on a remote MS DHCP/DNS server and on a local (On the XG) running DHCP server. Then i also added these clients as clientless hosts. But i still see the MAC address under the name.

I just done this, maybe it has to update something internal first?

Regards,

you will need to setup DHCP entries and use clientless users.
