No login via CLI nor GUI (XG Firewall 17.06.181)

Hi,

since appr. one week i can't login using the admin user, both CLI and GUI, ends with error message 'wrong password'. If i try to login after some time again using GUI an "Internal Server Error" occurs.

After hard machine reboot it works for a while (GUI and CLI), but the same behaviour after some time...

memory consumption: constantly 3.3 of 3.8 GB in use, cpu <10%

What can i do to solve this issue?

Hi Christian,

unfortunately the password is not the issue cause after rebooting the machine and login the password will be accepted on GUI and CLI.

I faced this issue on some undersized machines so far. 3.3 out of 3.8Gig of Memory is a Usage of over 85% what is definitely to high.

I'd increase memory as possible. Memory Consumption shouldn't be higher than 79%.

Hi,

the issue is solved. I saw some log files in an inconsistent behaviour (it's as if the writing suddenly stucked). I've found an input/output error in syslog, so i examined my SSD using smartctl. The first smartctl warning was that my Crucial M4 SSD contains an deprecated Firmware Version and after appr. 5200 hours of use it will be crashing (https://ccm.net/faq/29514-crucial-m4-how-to-remove-the-5200-hours-bug).

After preventive firmware update the issue no longer occurs, the memory usage now is 72-76%.
