Multiple Antivirus / Security Applications installed on 1 Android Device. Do we gotta a problem here?

[8-)]

Got Sophos Beta on Home computer and have known about SOPHOS Strict "there can be only one" Antivirus installed on Windows machines and the pitfalls of doing so anyways.

Yet I digress this be an Android question for, preferably a SOPHOS Employed, Android Mobile, Software Engineer, or Someone equal to that and helped to develop SOPHOS Mobile Security hell even a original Software Application Tester would work. So here we goes

Does having Multiple Android Antivirus Applications installed on a single Android mobile device, have any effect upon one another?

If above ? is Yes can you provide the What, Where, Why of the effects noticed or problems with SOPHOS Mobile Security normal use.

If above ? is Yes can you also provide a detailed installation procedure or program the app to avoid said problems?

What about different types of Security software, would it make any difference.

I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S2 9.7 Tablet [ SM-T810 ], and pre installed on it is a security program by intel and mcafee added to Device Maintenance Application and bundled with Samsung's KNOX that cannot be disabled or uninstalled from device or the Device Maintenance application itself without a root going down and Rootin is fo Suckers. Samsung is also downright intrusive with the built in device conditions and permissions allowed to the preinstalled Applications so to me and mostly anyone else this should be true : (Not Me ) Application on me devices with shady permissions = To myself thinking that application permissions capability is always on or in use all because the potential for use is YES THEY CAN...

Now my personal question is :

Does this pre installed unmoveable Security scanner pose any problems, even potential ones, to the Installation, General Use Of, Uninstallation, Detection, and the Remediation it preforms, of your Wonderful Application, SOPHOS Mobile Security and / or Security & Antivirus Guard?

TLDR

Problem? Multiple Security Applications installed on Single Android Device?

I hope answer is Irie.

I have tried a great majority of other Security firms applications and have continuously come back to Sophos, so now we stuck together.

  • Hi Nick,

Multiple antiviruses are not recommended due to the following factors:

    1. Antivirus programs will look for files/applications which can monitor and edit the contents in the device. Thus, the antiviruses will find each other as a threat.

    2. More Antiviruses means more memory usage and the energy consumption is more.

    3. Performance of the Mobile device will be low as the AV's run in the background continuously scanning the device real time.

Also, please refer to the article Sophos Mobile Control 5.0 - Frequently Asked Questions about Samsung Knox. This will be helpful if you decide to use Sophos Mobile Control on a Samsung Knox device. Let me know if this helps resolve your query.
