Force iOS to update without user interaction?

Hi,

I've been using a task bundle to force iOS tablets to update to the latest version, most recently 15.5 to 15.6.  When I transfer the task bundle to the iPad, I see a pop up on the iPad screen with three options along the lines of "Install now," or "Later," and a third option I don't remember.  Is there a way I can force the iPad to update to the latest version without any user intervention?  I have a batch of iPads that are idle for long periods of the day, and I'd like to push the updates to these tablets when they are in storage.  That's not going to work if I have to go to them and manually interact with them.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

Your device has to be supervised otherwise the end-user will keep the right to choose how the update will be installed or not.

Without having the device in a supervised mode, you can just force the download of the iOS update.

    Hope it helps

  • My devices say "supervised and managed" at the top of the Settings page, but users are still prompted with "install now or later" when I transfer the update task bundle to their device, or when I click on schedule install of the latest version.  I'm unable to force the install to begin installing without user intervention.  According to what Kushal Lakhan posted and linked, Apple does not allow the forced update of iOS devices by third party vendors.  Do you have a way around that?

  • I'm using also others EMM solution and I confirm we can download and force update without any end-user interaction,  maybe this chart can help you ?

Ensure your device is managed with Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) formely Device Enrollment Program (DEP) which lead at the end the supervision mode
