Support for tr-069 Provisioning in XG

Hello,

Does anyone know if the XG platform has support for tr-069 provisioning planned? It would be a very powerful to be able to auto provision our XG firewalls.

Thanks,

Robert

  • What is wrong with the XG management device?

    XG115W - v20 GA - Home

    XG on VM 8 - v20 GA

  • Oh don't get me wrong. The XG Management device/portal is awesome. As an ISP we currently provision devices over the wire automatically.

For example we currently use Cisco 867 and 1941 routers for client point to point connections. CWMP/TR-069 allows that device to be setup for DHCP on the WAN interface and automatically pull down it's configuration from our server from DHCP option 43. If XG Firewall supported TR-069 the device could be configured with basic setting automatically just by plugging it into our network connection. The WAN ip address (if static) would be automatically configured and so would the XG management server address. Then we could use the management portal to manage the device's more advanced settings, etc.

The purpose of TR-069 provisioning is that a factory default device could be shipped to the customer site and all they would have to do is plug it in. Just like a DSL or cable modem. It streamlines the setup process and allows scalability of management of devices.

The CPE WAN Management Protocol is intended to support a variety of functionalities
to manage a collection of CPE, including the following primary capabilities:

    - Auto-configuration and dynamic service provisioning
    - Software/firmware image management
    - Software module management
    - Status and performance monitoring
    - Diagnostics

Does that make sense to anyone?
