Hello, everyone. I have been trying to move from UTM 9 to XG Firewall Home edition due to the inaccurate IP address usage reporting in UTM.
My AP50 WAPS were working wonderfully in UTM 9, but now are not being seen by XG Firewall. I have tried using the Sophos RED & AP Recovery Application on two of the access points and wired them into my switch. In the Log Viewer I get:
messageid="60020" log_type="Event" log_component="DHCP Server" log_subtype="System" status="Renew" leased_ip="192.168.1.100" src_mac="[omitted]" client_host_name="" message="Lease IP 192.168.1.100 renewed for MAC [omitted]" raw_data="192.168.1.100 Thu 11 Oct 05:59:45 2018 Fri 12 Oct 05:59:45 2018 [omitted] AP50-A4000845F987489"
As you can see, it detects the access point and even assigns it an IP address, but it still never shows up in Protect < Wireless < Access Points. The other two APs, (I have four in total) have the same issue. I have plugged them into the switch, they get assigned an IP, and never show up in Access Points.
I have also verified I get full internet access and network connectivity through my laptop WiFi with a Sophos-assigned DHCP address.
More info: I can ping the IP assigned to the gateway and get a response:
Pinging 192.168.1.103 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.103: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Has anyone gotten AP50s to work in XG Firewall?
Hello Neil Ford1
I think first you will have to deregister you AP from the UTM.
Also, make sure you have enabled wireless protection under System > Administration > Device Access on the zone on which your AP is connected.
Regards, Ronak.

Hi,
I had a XG with AP50 running (Purchased).
Maybe this KBA helps:

In reply to LuCar Toni:
I had a AP50 running on UTM then moved it to the XG and never had an issue.

Even with the ones I've completed wiped and reinstalled the firmware on?
Unfortunately I installed XG over UTM.. looks like I may have to reinstall it to solve this.
In reply to Neil Ford1:
what lights do you see on your AP50 when you connect it to the network?
I have just connected my AP50 to my network and have 4 lights on, power, management and 2 SSIDs. I am using PoE from a Netgear switch.

Further questions, you are not using VLANs? If you are have you accidentally plugged them into VLAN port?
In reply to rfcat_vk:
The light directly under the computer symbol is mostly solid (flashes every now n' then from data) and the power light flashes slowly. About one flash per second.
Forgot to add. No VLAN on my switch. Intentionally removed all of that when I bought it.
From memory, the slow flashing power light indicates a software issue and the AP is trying to update.
If you think it might help I can rebuild one of my spare machines with my UTM licence and connect the AP50.
Thank you for the offer to help. I am wiping XG and reinstalling UTM in the hopes that I can unregister the AP50s to free them up, then I'll try reinstalling XG.
It might be a couple of days before I report back, but I figured I should try this before anything else.
I will have to withdraw the offer of a test machine because my AP50 has developed a bug, the 5ghz channel turns off of its own accord and the 2,4ghz channel is continually downloading something, no connections show. The AP stays up fro about 30 minutes before failing.
Hi, Ronak.
Just to be clear, in order to "deregister" the AP, I just delete it from the Active list in UTM, correct?
Yes, you need to delete it .
You had to check the log on the appliance first. But nevertheless now you are back to UTM?
