I am trying to set up my first firewall for personal use. I would like to access my firewall through a web portal via the FQDN, not the IP Address.
I haven't found clear instructions for how to set this up. It seems pretty basic. Let me know if you can find something.
You could follow this KB: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/123126

I don't think I want to set this up as a service provider. Currently I access my web portal and the user access portal with an IP address. I type xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:4444/.../login.jsp in my browser to get the login screen.
I want to type http:firewall.mydomain.com:4444/webconsole/webpages/login.jsp instead. I assume it doesn't take a change in architecture to do so?

that's not related to the XG. That is ja very basic question.
You need to set the record you want (firewall.domain.com) in your name server. If your name server is your XG you can set this under Configure -> Network -> DNS -> DNS Host Entry.
