We've released SFMOS v16.05. This release is available to SFM users via our update servers in a staged approach.

Remarks

Device reboots after upgrade.

 

Applicable SFMOS versions

Following SFMOS versions can upgrade to this SFMOS release:

  • SFMOS 15.01.0 - GA release, MR-1, MR-2, MR-3, MR-4
  • SFMOS v16.01.1 RC-1

 

Compatible Sophos Firewall OS (SFOS) versions

SFM Release - SFMOS v16.05 supports Firewalls running on the following Sophos Firewall OS (SFOS) versions:

  • SFOS 15.01.0 - GA, MR-1.1, MR-2, MR-3
  • SFOS 16.01.1, 16.01.2 MR-1, 16.01.3 MR-2
  • SFOS 16.05.0 RC-1 and GA, 16.05.1 MR1, 16.05.2 MR-2, 16.05.3 MR-3, 16.05.4 MR-4, 16.05.5 MR-5

 

 

What's new in this release

Bug Fixes

  • NCCC-5110 – While adding a device manually, SFM does not support lowercase and white spaces in the device serial number.
  • NCCC-5101 - Monitoring dashboard displays ‘Data not available’ for XG Firewalls with company name exceeding 50 characters.
  • NCCC-4930 – When customer adds SFOS v16 device in SFM v15 GA and then upgrades to SFM v16 RC-1, its display version is set as Null.
  • NCCC-4775 – Message: ‘Duplicate entry not allowed’ is displayed when a Firewall Device is added in SFM and it gets monitoring data of firewall at same time.
  • NCCC-4737 – Firewall sync stops on upgrading to SFM v16 RC-1 in case of configuration changes between Firewall and SFM or communication between them breaks due to network connectivity
  • NCCC-4736 – On upgrading SFM to v16 RC-1, SFOS 16.01.1 GA (202) and SFOS 16.05.1 MR-1 (139) versions are displayed as undefined under firmware in Compatibility Management.
  • NCCC-4713 – SFMv15 guide opens in Online Help instead of SFMv16 guide.
  • NCCC-4686 – Device Interface details in monitoring dashboard displays incorrect information.

Supported Platforms

  • Physical Appliances: All SFM series appliances
  • Virtual Appliance: All major VM hypervisors are supported including VMware, Microsoft HyperV, Xen, and KVM
  • Software Appliance: Any supported x86 hardware server can be converted into SFM appliance with an ISO image

 

Files

Firmware updates are available for manual download, via MySophos: Download from MySophos.

 

Updating your firmware

Sophos Up2Date technology makes it easy to upgrade your Sophos Firewall Manager to the latest version.

There are two ways to apply an available Up2Date package to the device:

Method 1

  • Log in to your SFM web interface.
  • Go to System & Monitor > System Settings > Maintenance > Firmware.
  • Click “Check for new Firmware” to download the latest firmware.
  • Once it is downloaded, click “Install” to begin the installation. The system will reboot and the new firmware will be installed.
  • You can roll back to the previous firmware version by clicking “Boot Firmware” for the previous firmware version. Any configuration changes made between the upgrade and roll back will be lost.

Method 2

  • Download the Up2Date package from MySophos.
  • Go to System & Monitor > System Settings > Maintenance > Firmware.
  • Select “Upload firmware” against the non-active firmware to upload the new firmware file and click “Upload & Boot”. The system will reboot and the new firmware will be installed.
  • You can roll back to the previous firmware version by clicking “Boot Firmware” for the previous firmware version. Any configuration changes made between the upgrade and roll back will be lost.
