Plex.tv Website blocked?

Hello,

 

when I try to open https://www.plex.tv from my LAN Network I get the browser message Failed to open page, can't fin the server plex.tv .

 

When I open the website on my mobile phone with GSM Connection, the website can be opened without any problem.

 

 

When I go to Web Protection - Policy Helpdesk I get the the following information:

 

Request URL:   https://www.plex.tv/
 
Request Time:   04 Oct, 18:31 (CEST)
 
Result:   Blocked
 
Reason:   Host not found
 
Policy name:   Base Policy
 
Exceptions:   Plex Skip Checks

 

 

How can I get the Website to work?

    Hello Sally,

    this looks more like a DNS problem.

    As "Host not found" says: Your UTM cannot resolve the hostname to a valid IP address.

     

    Go to \Support \Tools \DNS Lookup. Enter hostnname  "www.plex.tv". Do you get results similar to this?

    www.plex.tv is an alias for www.plex.tv.cdn.cloudflare.net.

    www.plex.tv.cdn.cloudflare.net has address 104.16.138.132

    www.plex.tv.cdn.cloudflare.net has address 104.16.139.132

    www.plex.tv.cdn.cloudflare.net has IPv6 address 2400:cb00:2048:1::6810:8a84

    www.plex.tv.cdn.cloudflare.net has IPv6 address 2400:cb00:2048:1::6810:8b84

    If not, check your DNS server settings under \Network Services \DNS

    Do any other sites fail to open?

    Hello,

     

    when checking under DNS Lookup I get the following result on UTM:

     

    Host www.plex.tv not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)


    Under Networking - DNS - I have allowed Networks Internal Network, and under Forwarders I have Google DNS 1 (8.8.8.8) and Google DNS 2 (8.8.4.4) 

    as Host Opbjects defined.

    All other Websites are working fine, and DNS resolution is possible.

    Same here,

    when using Google DNS server, i cannot resolve plex (see end of post). Seems to be Google related.

    Using my providers DNS server everything is working fine. Why don't you use the DNS servers from your provider - or at least try them?

    I tried already with my provider dns servers, but same result, resolution did also not work..

    I checked, I cannot open Websites with domain .tv

    I had configured one of my PCs as a tv and static mapped it to "tv".

    Name changed, all .tv domains are working

    If you search here, you will see that that "trick" is used to block a specific top level domain.
