Sophos UTM9 Firewall Rule shadowed by Web / App Protection?

Hello There :)

I have a simple drop rule from my Internal Networks - Any - External IP Subnet with Drop.

I already have Web and Application Protection in place without a proxy.

When i activate the rule the UTM will still pass traffic forward the blocked ip ranges.

( Yes i've put them on the Skip Transparend Host List in the Web Protection and Application Control Skiplist aswell and double checked my Automatic NAT Rules .)

Can i see where or what shadows my rule or is this just wild guessing?

  • Hi Dave,

There are several possible reasons for this.  Please show us pics of the Edit of the entry in the Transparent mode Skiplist and of the Firewall rule you believe should block the traffic.  Also, confirm that you haven't selected the 'Allow...' check box for the Skiplist.

Note that AppCtrl is for blocking traffic that is allowed by other rules.  See #2 in Rulz.

    Cheers - Bob
