YouTube Restricted Mode

I've managed to turn on YouTube Restricted Mode ... I think by checking the option to have Google Safesearch on.
But YouTube Restricted mode is way too restrictive, so want to turn it off.

I've unchecked the Google Safesearch but web browsers still show YouTube Restricted Mode as on.

How do I turn it off?

Also, can I keep YouTube Restricted Mode as OFF but Google SafeSearch as ON?

Hi SK,

Google safesearch shouldn't impact youtube, just google.com. If you found a way that enforces youtube restricted mode for all devices connected to your network within sophos utm, please let me know !

Hi,

Google safe search will not effect YouTube. Try configuring an exception for YouTube in Web Protection> Filter option>Exceptions. All entries contained in these lists can be excluded from certain web protection services.

I am also looking for a solution to turn on youtube restrictiv mode for all devices in my network. Is there a solution in the meantime avalable?

Currently SG UTM does not have this as a built in option. XG does.

I don't have step by step instructions - and it may be different depending on your particular network configuration. But you can use the DNS / CNAME mechanism described here:

I eventually found out what this was.

Basically, in Sophos UTM there was an option to turn on YouTube Safe mode, which I had done previously.

I then upgraded to later versions, and the option to set YouTube Safe mode was deprecated, so I couldn't turn it off, in those later versions.

In the end, I had to rebuild from scratch and redo all the config again.

Was time consuming but worked.
