[8.201] Web Proxy Not Working

My Astaro was currently at 8.200, when my proxy stopped working.  I figured an update would work, so I updated to 8.201.  Still nothing.  I ran the troubleshooting in Windows 7 Network Configuration and it states the following: "The device or resource (web proxy) is not set up to accept connections on port "8080"."  I am confused by this since I have verified on Astaro that my Web Fitering Port is 8080.

A little info:
I have no active Firewall Rules, everything goes through the proxy.  It was working fine yesterday, and then in the middle of the day it didn't.

I am a long time user but in no means experienced.  Please help!

Thanks in advance!

  • Two quick things to try in no particular order:

    1)  reboot the Astaro
    2)  Disable then re-enable the Web Proxy

One thing to check:  Confirm the mode that the Web Proxy is running in.

  • Unfortunately, I have tried both many, many times, with no luck.  Thanks for responding so quickly.
  • Go to support>advanced>Local Network Connections  and make sure that port 8080 (web server) is listening

Assuming that works fine make sure that the settings on your ASG match the settings on the client (i.e. if you are using standard mode , add the proxy)
  • Hmmm, you're right.  Port 8080 is not listed, therefore, not listening.  How do I change that?

    Thanks!
  • Somethings not quite right.  Let's try this:  Go to Web Security>>Web Filtering>>Advanced Tab>>Misc Settings.  Change the port to something else, like 9090, click Apply.  Now change it back to 8080 and click apply again.  Give the proxy a minute to restart.  Check if it is listening on port 8080.  If not, go to the Global Tab and change the mode to Transparent and click Apply, then change it back to Standard mode and click apply again.

  • hhmmm.  Can you change it back to 9090 temporarily and see if it is listening on that port?

  • When the Web Filtering Port is changed, the only log I see it in is the Configuration daemon log.
    severity="info" sys="System" sub="confd" name="node changed" node="http->port" value="9090" oldvalue="8080"
When you changed the port, do you see any errors in that log?
From the shell (console or SSH), as root, run "cc get http port" (without quotes).  What's the return value?

You can also try restoring the last config-backup from before this started.

If that doesn't work, my suggestion would be, if this is a paid business license, to open up a support ticket with Astaro (if standard support, contact your reseller, if premium support you can contact Astaro Support directly).  If this is a home license, I would save off the most recent config-backup and one from before this began happening, then do a reinstall/config-backup restore.
