Sophos UTM + HTTPS Scanning & Mobiles & Guests

Good Morning,

I've installed Sophos UTM this morning, got it all running and configured. I went to activate HTTPS scanning and instantly I've got a problem, How do the mobiles within my household (IPhones, Android) Get protected under this policy? Similar if I have family / friends that come and use my WIFI ? Really find this feature useful and I want full protection / scanning across my network.

Any help and suggestions would appreciate it.

  • Hi and welcome to the UTM Community!

The easiest is to start in Transparent mode and to NOT scan HTTPS.  Scanning HTTPS with the UTM should come after you get a better sense of WebAdmin and how to use it to configure what you want.  You will want to read the Help to see how to add the Proxy CA to your browsers.  Depending on your proficiency with their OSs, you may decide to have separate Web Filtering Profiles for the mobiles.

    Cheers - Bob
