User portal not 'working'. Login rejected.

Hi all,

While messing about to get Cisco VPN client working I came across a doc about this and using the user portal to download a certificate.

Although meant for an older UTM version I was curious about the user portal and its option.

I configured the user portal to except the internal network(s) and all users.

I created a new user and tried to login the user portal

Alas this was rejected saying: invalid username/password or rejected by policy.

I am certain username/password is correct.

Live log of Firewall and Web protections showed no entries when trying.

Any ideas?

Thanx Jaap

  • Hi,

Please show me a picture of the Global Tab in Management | User Portal.

What do you see in the aua.log? If you look in the aua.log and see

    • name=“Authentication failed: Local user "user1" is disabled”
    • reason=“DENIED”
    • id=“3006” & id=“3005” which mean "Informational Message – General information is issued by the daemon" and "Authentication failed – A user has failed to authenticate" respectively

In this case, it is pretty clear that the user is unable to login because their account is disabled. Make sure the User host definition is enabled and has a green status.

    Thanks

  • Hi Sachingurung,

    Made a very stupid mistake.

Forgot that with Sophos the username is case-sensitive. :(

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with the log.
