Webfiltering blocking a webapp

Hello,

We are trying to access a particular website - http://x.x.x.x:1467/capexweb/capexweb/. The webfiltering is blocking the page even with all the exceptions in place.

  • Web Protection > Filter Options > Exceptions > For the above link, everything is skipped
  • Web Protection > Filter Options > Misc. > Allowed Target Service > TCP port 1467 is added.
  • Web Protection > Filter Options > Website > Reputation is set as Trusted for the following URLs: x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x:1467, http://x.x.x.x:1467/capexweb/capexweb/

Don't really know whats causing the UTM to block the page.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

  • When using a custom port, it shouldn't be going through the web protection.  Make sure you have a firewall rule allowing outbound TCP traffic for the port 1467.

So should be no firewall rule....

However if traffic is not following the http protocol, it could be that the proxy cannot handle it or cannot succesfully communicate with the remote host. In that case it would be better to have the firewall manage this traffic in stead of webfiltering.

  • Are you using web filtering in transparent or standard mode?  If transparent, the allowed target service is not used and a firewall rule would be needed.
