Country blocking exception not working

We've recently started doing business with a firm that uses email servers in Taiwan. Using country blocking we are blocking all traffic FROM Taiwan.

I've created a Country Blocking Exception policy like so:

Skip blocking of these:Taiwan
For all request "coming from these" One host that is the IP I'm seeing in the logs
Using these services:SMTP

I'm still seeing traffic in the firewall log from their IP using Port 25 being country blocked.
If I stop blocking Taiwan altogether it works.

Ideas?

  • Just had a look at my country blocking and see there are a lot countries in the exception list but I have no idea how the got there.

I don't have any exceptions, something appears wrong? Only happens when you create a new exception, the list only partly populates.

  • I think I have resolved this by creating a new Country Blocking Exception. In this one I didn't select anything in the "Skip blocking of these" area. I just selected the customers IP and the service SMTP

I've had one successful connection. I'll report back later.

  • I can verify now that that fixed the problem. We are recieving lots of stalled email.

No countries selected in "Skip these checks"
