Data Protection test not working

Hi, I'm testing out the Data Protection feature. I just sent the following to my gmail account and it didn't reply or forward me any alert. these are obviously fictitious USA SSNs (I hope). I was just trying to test out the attached rules. should they have triggered something?

==============

123-45-6789

987-65-4321

001-11-1000

111-11-1111

888-88-8888

222-22-2222

333-33-3333

444-44-4444

555-55-5555

666-66-6666

These are the SSN #s

Heh heh heh

============

Or am I misunderstanding how this works?

Thanks,

Jeff

  • Found it. I don't have my utm set up to relay SMTP messages from the email server, so it's not really touching it. My server (Kerio Connect) is set up to send directly via mx records (as listed by our ISP).

    Now I just need to figure out how to do that properly, because my attempt was causing email to come from my gateway's main IP address, not the interface I have defined for mail including SMTP. That'll be another set of questions here and at Kerio/GFI's forums I guess.

    Thanks,

    Jeff
