Sophos UTM 220 9.306 -6 CPU usage reaches 100%

Fixing this:

    /etc/init.d/postgresql rebuild

This deletes all existing data in Reporting but rebuilds your database and should reduce cpu eating to normal...

Actually in 9.2 or greater, the command has changed slightly:

/etc/init.d/postgresql92 rebuild

If You are using WiFi with hotspot, by rebuilding postgres all given vauchers will be deleted.

I had exactly the same problem with the 220

I rebuilt the Postgres db as suggested, no joy.

Does it have 2gb ram?

Is your swap file usage very high ? (Logging & reporting > Hardware > Memory usage - Daily)

Eventually sophos's support dialled in and increased the swap file from 1 to 2 gb

Apparently the ram was underspec and over utilised causing exceptional swap file usage. Unfortunately there was not enough swap so it locked up until it had caught up.

I've done that for many 120 and 220 clients.  If the following command responds "0" (zero), that indicates that you have only 1GB of swap space:

cc get settings extra_swap

To upgrade to 2GB:

cc set settings extra_swap 1

hi all, 

upon rebuilding the postgres it have stabilized for just 1 day and it comes back again the next days.

I have reimage the utm to 9.306 firmware but the issue still coming up.

still having 100% cpu for postgres

I yesterday opened a ticket about this problem, but i am still on 9.304-9 and I do not want to update because of all reported problems in this forum.

This issue is now getting my client worsts.
Can't even login to the Sophos UTM due to high cpu.
every time we login to the sophos utm, all RED networks and local network internet get down.

We are planning to export the log files and backup config in order to test it in another UTM appliance with thesame model but we can't login to UTM due to this issue.
