Unable to access https://192.168.0.1:4444 ASG Virtual Appliance

Installed VMware player on my laptop (Windows 7). I next downloaded and loaded the latest ASG Virtual Appliance from the VMware site. I followed the instructions of changing the VMnet8 IP to 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0. I can ping .2 from the command line of my laptop but not .1. When I attempt to login to https://192.168.0.1:4444 I am unable to, it appears the broswer can't connect. [:S]

When i bring up the ASG virtual machine I am stuck at the login. SQL server is showing an error.

Have you tried logging in to the console of the ASG VM? Does ifconfig show the correct address settings for the interface(s)?

Can you ping out from the VM console? If so, does a traceroute follow the right path?

I figured it out. I tried assigning a 192.168.0.X address to the internal NIC on my laptop. Unless it's physically plugged into a network, I don't believe the NIC is active.

What I did next was to turn off DHCP on my wireless card, assign a 192.168.0.X address and I was then able to access the browser management console.

Only issue now is I don't have Internet access. The fix, was to change the eth0 IP on Astaro to my home network IP range.

What I am confused about, the eth0 interface is the "internal" network. I'm not quite sure how to setup an external network complete with Internet access. I will start a new thread to flesh this out.
