Dell T3600 Suitable for HomeUser Firewall?

I have a Dell T3600

  • 4 Core Xeon E51603, 2.8
  • RAM 8gb DDR 3
  • 240 SSD

1. I  want to use this to load Home version of Firewall for use at home -5 laptops, 6 other devices(mobiles, iPad, iPod). Any success with this box?

2. Suggestions on which Virtual to run it on - HyperV / VirtualBox or VMware ESXi?

Thanks!

  • Hi and welcome to the UTM Community!

There's more experience here with ESXi than the other two.  Least with Virtual Box.  Check the last page or two of the Unofficial HCL at the top of this forum.  You're most likely to have issues with NICs, but running in a VM will shield you from that.  In ESXi, use the VMXNET3 NICs.

    Cheers - Bob
