Change Interface type from Ethernet to DSL (PPPOE)

Hi

I would like to change my current internet facing Interface from type Ethernet to DSL (PPPOE).

If I update the current interface will this have an impact on rules and other configuration? Is a new interface a better idea?

The interface has these:

Used in these configurations:
Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces → Multipath Rules
Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces → Uplink Balancing
Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces → Uplink Balancing
Network Protection → NAT → Masquerading
Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces → Uplink Balancing
Web Protection → FTP → Advanced
  Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces
Network Protection → Firewall → Rules
Interfaces & Routing → Quality of Service (QoS) → Status
Interfaces & Routing → Interfaces → Uplink Balancing

Thanks

    Hi

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

If the object is used in other configurations, it might not allow you to make the change. I would advise you to configure a new interface and then update the other configurations accordingly.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I don't remember ever disagreeing with H_Patel, but I think you should be able to change from "Ethernet" to "DSL (PPPOE) with no problems.  Please try that first and let us know if you were successful.

    Cheers - Bob
