I'm running Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition v 9.6.5. After the scan was completed, the log states the following:
Scan inside archives and compressed files: No Automatically clean up threats : Yes Scan for adware and potentially unwanted applications (PUA): No Automatically clean up adware and potentially unwanted applications (PUA): No Action on infected files: Delete Live Protection enabled: Yes Scan for controlled applications: No
2017-11-13 08:55:48 -0700 Threat: 'Mal/Generic-S' detected in '/Users/macuser/Library/Application Support/com.QuickLookSearches/QuickLookSearches'
Cleaned up threat 2017-11-13 09:11:10 -0700 Files Scanned: 909177, Threats Found: 1, PUAs found: 0, Issues found: 0
.. Is this something I can clear from my Mac computer? If so, how best to proceed?
Sophos should be able to find and remove the Malware unless it is somehow encrypted by iTunes back up or another program. Having said that, it appears to be a Windows malware (according to Sophos) so your Mac should be safe anyway.
