Moodle 3.2 and MySQL Server, via MAMP 3.4

First, let me say that I am not a system diagnostician, programmer, or system admin.  For educational purposes, I have been preparing a course in Moodle 3.2 at home, in anticipation of an actual course in Fall 2017.  To do so, I have been using MAMP v.3.4 to start a Apache server and a MySQL server.  A day or so ago, I reinstalled Sophos on my computer.  Now, when I attempt to start both servers, only the Apache server starts up.  The MySQL server attempts to start and then stops and kicks me out.  This means that I am unable to access my Moodle 3.2 installation.

Does it seem likely that Sophos would block this server and/or server connection?

Can I somehow make an exception in Sophos?

Any assistance is appreciated.

  • Hi John ,

Could you check if the issue is resolved by disabling on -Access Scanning ? This will help us diagnose your issue. Also , are you using SQL on your MacOS ?.
