RBL using Sophos firewall

Hello,

We have a situation wherein we filter SPAM emails using RBL and the emails will bounce back to the sender if the IP is blacklisted.  The issue is that our users will not know that their customers or suppliers have sent a message.   However, using we can obtain the information from Sophos applying a criteria manually.  The questions is - is there any way to get this listing automatically sent through emails to our mailbox everyday ?

Thanks

  • Hello Gopal,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

Sorry would you mind clarifying your query, so users will not know who send them an email if the email is bounced, but this part is not clear

  • Essentially, all inbound emails are checked against Realtime BlackLlist such as Barracuda, SORBS.net, etc (and other relevant checks).  Whenever an inbound email is blacklisted, we drop them and get undelivered email to the sender which contains a reason as to it was undelivered.

The problem is that the receiver doesn't not know that the sender has sent an email and it is returned to the sender as undelivered due to IP address being blacklisted for Spam, Virus etc.

What I would like to know is 'How we can automatically send a message to the receiver since we can get a SMTP log from Sophos firewalll on the of emails returned to sender due to IP address blacklisting or rDNS etc.  For example, one of the below log shows an email is returned due to IP blacklist:

Date                            IP Address of sender      Sender email                     Receiver email                   Error

    2020-06-11 17: 15       <IP Address>                <sender@abcmetal.co,>    <sales@abcd.com.sg          Rejected RBL (DNSBL.SORBS.NET)

What we like to know is whether it's possible to send the above as an email to the receiver so that receiver can contact the sender to take the appropriate action to make it a little bit more efficient.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks
