I have an installation of virtual environments up and running, but according to Sophos central there has been no activity within the last 8 months.
Are the any command i can run on the install to fire off an update / validate my connection to sophos central?

Is it updating fine on the client machine? Could you please check under the update logs and check if you find any specific error? You can try to re-register as mentioned in this article and see if it helps.
