Skype does not work with Sandboxed Chrome

We are missing your current Sbie version, antivirus,  Windows version , what happens in a new Sandbox with default settings, and what are the exact repro steps, so we can give them a try.

Sandboxie version = 5.31.2 - 64 bit

Windows version = 1903 OS build 18.362.329

All browsers up-to-date

AV = Avast free - version 19.7.2388

Firewall = Windows Defender

Everything worked fine with Windows version 1809.

Nothing Microsoft is accepted by Sandboxie for Windows 1903, not even Microsoft Edge browser.

I would point out Barb that my details are completely irrelevant - this problem applies to ALL

users having Windows 1903 and using Sandboxie.

--> And neither have I. We have a set of required questions in order to set up the same scenario and reproduce issues. Without the details, I cannot assist it you, as I would be guessing.

It is NOT a Yabbadoo problem or any other users problem.

It is a WINDOWS FEATURE 1903 UPDATE and SANDBOXIE compatibility problem -

A SYSTEMS PROBLEM ! - YOURS !

Windows version 1809 and Sandboxie worked perfectly.

PROBLEM Barb in a nutshell -

SANDBOXIE HAS EXCLUDED MICROSOFT COMPATIBILITY INCLUDING

THEIR BROWSER MICROSOFT EDGE FROM THE LATEST VERSION OF

SANDBOXIE - 5.31.2

OVER TO SANDBOXIE FOR RESOLUTION.

Did you get a chance to look at the other thread? Can you confirm that you are experiencing the same problem? And, did you  test the 2 workarounds I provided in the meantime? Otherwise, let me know if there's anything different for your case.

Once there's a response from the devs, the threads will be updated. Any additional details you can provide (if the issue is different), will be required in order to further test.

Regarding MS Edge, we have never supported it: (however, OWA should work when accessed from web browsers. Devs are aware of the current issues).

This is not likely to change, but if anything comes up, of course, it will be posted. The currently supported apps are listed in the guidelines I provided before.

Is it possible to specify them again here ?

I will be astonished but extremely pleased if they resolve this Microsoft problem.

I don't use Opera.

Until the Sandboxie development  people get Sandboxie compatible with Windows version 1903 so that all the Microsoft programs and logins work as they did with Windows 1809, I will stick to my own simple temporary fiddle -

Logon to Microsoft Outlook.com email with an unsandboxed Chrome browser, check "keep me signed in" close it, then I  open my Chrome browser with Sandboxie and restore the tabs - this bodge-up works fine. Inconvenient but at least it gets my Outlook.com email within Sandboxie.

Skype online ? Being Microsoft it is not accepted by Sandboxie. I have Skype as an independent offline program anyhow, so no big deal.

I wish the Sandboxie developers good speed in rectifying this problem.

I have a Skype account and use Chrome as my browser.

If you have Windows 1903, then with Chrome opened by Sandboxie, try - https://web.skype.com a Microsoft login and see how it fails. My screen goes completely misted over with a "not responding" alert and cannot be cancelled - It has to be crashed, which closes the browser down and start all over again.

That's related to the thread I provided. When you access the skype site, it redirects to the login.live.com website (which is the one freezing the browsers). 

The current workaround seems to be Opera 62. The devs are aware, and I will post any updates as they become available.
