[Fresh from the Press: Latest KB's] How to manage FileVault 2 disk encryption on iMac Pro computers

With the iMac Pro, Apple introduced a new Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip which is utilized when FileVault 2 (FV2) gets enabled. The current implementations of the SafeGuard Client for Mac version 8.00.3 and Sophos Central Device Encryption version 1.3.0 do not fully support this new hardware.

As a result, the full disk encryption does not automatically start even though the corresponding policy was applied.

This article describes a workaround that allows managing FV2 until a programmatic solution is available. Sophos plans adding a compatibility improvement in the future versions of the affected products. Currently, this is planned for SafeGuard Enterprise 8.10 (Q2/18) and Sophos Central Device Encryption 1.5 (Q4/18).
