Encrypting files with Sophos Mobile Encryption

With Sophos Mobile Encryption you can encrypt files handed over by other apps on your mobile device.

You can seamlessly upload the encrypted files to one of the supported cloud storage providers or store the documents in Local Storage within the app.

Depending on the used mobile operating system, the way to encrypt a file varies.

For example you can store an important document received on your corporate mail account on your device.

On Android devices open the file which should be encrypted. If no default application was defined to handle this file type, a list of usable apps is displayed including Sophos Mobile Encryption.
Select Encrypt and store to complete the action. Sophos Mobile Encryption prompts you to create or select a key and to choose where to stores the file.
This can be the Local Storage are or a configured cloud storage provider. After specifying all settings, click on Encrypt and store and the file will be securely saved.
The same applies to any file your create on your device. Select Encryption as app to open the file and securely store it on your device or in the cloud.

In addition, Sophos Mobile Encryption is integrated in the list of applications displayed in the "Share via" view.

On iOS devices, open the file with the application you typically use to edit the file.

Within the application choose Open In. Encryption appears in the list of selectable apps.

Select it and Sophos Mobile Encryption prompts you to create or select a key and to choose where to store the file. You can either choose Local Storage or a configured cloud storage provider to upload it directly.

Tap on Encrypt and upload and the file will be securely stored.
The same applies to any file your create on your iOS. Select Open In in your editing app and choose Encryption to securely store the file on your device or in the cloud.
Due to the nature of iOS, Sophos Mobile Encryption cannot be added to the list of applications shown when pressing the "Share" button.
Apple has predefined this list and other applications cannot be added.
