IOS locating device on maps

Does anyone know how to setup or locate iOS devices, on Androids there is an option in the SSP but for iOS devices it's missing?

  • Hi,

to setup the locate for iOS devices you have to install the SMC 3.0 app on the iOS devices.
In addition, you have to activate the iOS client locate functionality within the SMC web management.

Please have a look at chapter 11.2 of the SMC administrator guide. Once the devices reported a location back to the server it would be possible to show the location of the device on Google maps.
A button appears similar to the one for Android devices in the device details.

    Best regards

    Stefan

  • Be aware though, unlike the Android locating feature, the iPhone / iPad locating will only show the location the last time the device synchronised with the SMC, which by default is 1440 minutes (24 hours*).

So, potentially, you could hit the locate option and be shown the device is in London, when in reality it could be in Singapore.

*This is changed using the Config Wizard, not within the SMC Admin GUI

  • The 3.0 app is now released for iOS so we can use this feature, however I don't see an option in the config wizard to change the time between sync's?
